Karen McMahon, LICSW Clinical Social Worker

Karen McMahon, LICSW, joined the Green House Group in 2013. Karen brings varied experience to Green House. She has practiced psychotherapy with children, adults, and families for over 30 years. Prior to the Green House Group, Karen worked as supervisor/manager at Health Care and Rehabilitation Services (HCRS) in Springfield, Vermont, supervising school clinicians and behavioral interventionists in the public school system and as clinical director of a therapeutic day camp. Karen has been a therapist/supervisor at Riverbend Community Mental Health Center in Concord, NH and at the Elliot Behavioral Health Outpatient Center in Manchester. Karen also served as therapist and 504 Coordinator in a large (500+ students) elementary school in Newburyport, MA for 12 years. She has utilized play therapy, family interventions, HNC (Helping the Non-compliant Child) and other evidence based interventions in working with children and their families. Karen was also a teacher/presenter for the Child Impact Seminar, the required program for divorcing parents in New Hampshire as they learn about their new roles as “co-parents.” Karen specializes in working with adults and families who are going through change and loss in their lives. Relationship issues; divorce; illness or loss of elderly parents; blended family issues; mid-life changes such as children reaching adolescence and going off on their own; each brings its own challenges. Crises and life transitions are often an opportunity for growth, although it may not seem so at times. Karen McMahon can be reached at 603-668-3050 Ext *33.
